Hello! I’m Julia — doula, parent, feminist, sea-dipper, and someone who genuinely believes that you are the expert on your own birth.

This isn’t one of those blog posts that tells you what to do. This is just a gentle reminder that birth isn’t something you have to get through — it’s something you can feel powerful in. Whatever that looks like for you.

So… what do I actually do?

I’m a doula, which means I don’t do clinical stuff (that’s your midwife’s gig). I do the calm voice, the “you’re doing amazing,” the (usually not so-) gentle rub on your back, the holding of the space so you can just be. I do the prep beforehand and the checking in after. I walk beside you the whole way.

And nope, I’m not here to replace your partner — I support them too, so they can support you.

Birth prep, but make it real life

Our real-world prep together will be a huge part of this. Not just breathing techniques (though we’ll do that too), but the kind of practical, emotional, and rights-based stuff that actually helps. Like:

  • How to advocate for yourself

  • What your choices are really

  • How to write a birth plan that actually works for you

  • What if things don’t go to plan?

The vibe

I’m not here to tell you how to birth. There’s no one “right” way. You might want the water birth with fairy lights and affirmations. You might want the epidural as soon as you walk through the hospital doors. You might want to freebirth at home. All valid. All welcome.

What I want is for you to feel informed, held, and like your voice matters — because it does.

Hear it from the people

“Julia’s voice grounded me through each contraction. I didn’t think I could do it, but she knew I could — and that mattered.”— A very strong, very tired, and very proud parent
“She held space for me to feel vulnerable and powerful at the same time.”— New mum, still weepy (in a good way)

Curious?

Let’s have a no-pressure chat. I offer a free 30-minute call so you can ask me all the questions and see if the vibe is right.

Follow along

You’ll find me on Instagram sharing birth tips, truths, and the occasional snack pic @doulajuliaiddir. Come say hi.

You’re already doing the work. You don’t need fixing. You just deserve support that sees you.

Big love,Julia x
