What is shared care?
Meet the dream team.
I often team up to offer shared care with one of a small selection of amazing local doulas, because two doulas can sometimes be better than one. It can also be a really great solution when I'm just not available for your entire on call period.
We’re both with you for your antenatal sessions, both just a call or WhatsApp away, and both bringing our own knowledg, experience and calm presence to your journey. And the best part? You won’t ever have to rely on a backup doula you’ve never met. One of us will always be there when you need us.
We can help you prep for birth, support you on the day, or jump on a call if you’re trying to make sense of your options. Basically, whatever you need, we’ve got you. Two doulas, one team (wooly hats optional).

Ways of working with us together.

WHAT IS A DOULA?
What does a doula do (-la)?
A birth doula is someone who supports you emotionally, physically and practically throughout pregnancy and birth.
I’m here to help you and your partner feel informed, calm and confident as you prepare to meet your baby.
I’m not here to tell you what to do or push any agenda. Instead, I’ll make sure you feel heard and have the information and support you need to make the choices that feel right for you.
Whether you’re planning a homebirth, birth centre birth, labour ward birth or caesarean, I’ll support you. And if things change along the way? I’ll still be right there with you.
Based near Edinburgh, I support families across Scotland with calm, personalised care centred around you and what matters most to you.
Why have a doula?
Research shows that continuous support during birth can:
-
Lower the chances of induction
-
Reduce the need for pain relief
-
Decrease the likelihood of an instrumental or caesarean birth
-
Shorten labour
-
Reduce anxiety and boost confidence
-
Improve your overall experience of birth
-
Increase the likelihood of starting breastfeeding
My support is unconditional
There’s no “right” way to give birth. Whether you want an epidural, a homebirth, lots of medical support or simply want to take things as they come - I’m here for you.
We’ll talk about what matters most to you, and that’s what I’ll focus on throughout.
Your birth. Your choices. Your support.
" My labour didn't go at all how I expected, but I still remained calm throughout thanks to
the information and techniques Julia had taught. "
